YOUR COURTSIDE ADVANTAGE

Better Circulation. Better Health. Better Pickleball.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, and Tyson McGuffin is one of the top-ranked professional pickleball players at the forefront of this booming game. He holds many national titles including four-time Grand Slam Gold Medalist in Men’s Open Singles, 4x National Champion, and in 2018 claimed his first Grand Slam in Men’s Open Doubles at the Tournament of Champions. McGuffin has felt at home on the courts most of his life—prior to becoming a pickleball player, he played competitive tennis and now he is one of Professional Pickleball’s most accomplished and recognizable players.

Tyson currently travels the country on the Professional Pickleball tour and playing events sanctioned by the USA Pickleball Association, the sports’ governing body. When he is not competing professionally, he shares his passion for pickleball with others by teaching camps to more than a thousand people each year. McGuffin also serves as a USPTA, IPTPA, and PPR certified instructor for LevelUp Pickleball Camps.

Listen to what Tyson has to say about BEMER

“I’ve been using BEMER for the last 6 months, and whether it’s working out in the gym, running a 6-hour camp, or playing an 8-hour tournament, I’ve seen a huge difference in my overall energy, vitality, and endurance. I feel like the improved local blood [flow] in my leg muscles allows me to be fresh the next day … plus I get better rest and I feel sharper in the morning.”*

About the Sport

A younger cousin to tennis and badminton, pickleball, is an easy to learn and “fun for the whole family” sport. But at the professional level, rules and equipment aren’t the only things pickleball shares with its relatives. The constant darting from side to side and explosive movements can place an immense amount of stress on the lower body, especially the ankles. Ankle, quadricep and hamstring strains can easily happen in the heat of a match. And Achilles tendonitis can develop over time from overuse. Not to mention, with tournaments lasting upwards of eight hours, players need to be in peak physical condition. That’s why professional pickleballers like Tyson McGuffin use BEMER. BEMER’s targeted PEMF technology improves local blood flow, flooding healthy muscles with oxygen, and boosting carbon dioxide removal. Healthier muscles mean better support for the lower body joints, improved recovery, enhanced muscular conditioning and performance, and more energy. For pickleball players, this translates to more time on the court and less time on the sidelines.

WHAT IS THE BEMER ADVANTAGE?

When your muscles have greater access to oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood, your body will be better equipped to cope with intense training sessions, boosting your conditioning and endurance.

When you can train more often and more intensely, you’ll find your muscle strength and endurance will increase, allowing you to move faster and play more pickleball.

How Does BEMER Work?

Think of BEMER as a wireless phone charger for your body. BEMER devices use what’s called a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to stimulate electrical activity and temporarily increase muscle blood circulation. When you add BEMER therapy to your daily routine, you may notice significant improvements in your sports performance, physical strength and conditioning, and athletic recovery. Athletes all over the world––including Olympic competitors and players in many professional sports––are using BEMER to keep their bodies in peak physical condition and perform at their best.

Sports Performance FAQs

How exactly does BEMER PEMF therapy work?

Many of our modern devices today –– cellphones, computers, microwaves, etc. –– emit what is called electromagnetic fields. These fields or waves vary in frequency, with higher frequencies (microwaves, x-rays, etc.) causing harm to our bodies and lower frequencies –– like radio waves –– being able to pass through us safely. But if we go low enough on the electromagnetic spectrum, we can see various health benefits from EMF application, and that’s where BEMER comes in. Using a pulsed low-frequency EMF, BEMER stimulates the natural electrical charge in your muscle cells, providing a holistic way of enhancing local circulation, nutrient and oxygen delivery, waste removal, and much more –– thereby improving overall health and well-being.

How can BEMER improve my strength and endurance?

BEMER’s patented PEMF signal optimizes local blood flow and aids in your recovery process. By dilating your microcapillaries, BEMER allows your body to deliver more oxygen to your muscles, increasing their capacity to perform. When you can train more often and more intensely, you’ll find your muscle strength and endurance will increase, allowing you to swing faster, hit harder, and play more pickleball.

Can I take my BEMER with me when I travel?

If you have space for a backpack, then yes! BEMER was made to accompany you wherever the competition takes you. Our travel-ready BEMER products conveniently fit in a backpack for all your on-the-go PEMF therapy needs in one place. You can have a quick pre-game session to relieve any minor aches and stiffness before you start warming up, or you can easily fit in an eight-minute session midway through the day for a quick boost in energy. Either way, BEMER can give you the stamina and focus on playing your best.

Will BEMER help me swing without discomfort?

While BEMER isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases or injuries, one of the many benefits it provides is temporary relief from minor aches. Every individual is different and has their own unique list of past injuries, whether from overuse or acute trauma. By enhancing local blood flow, BEMER floods these affected areas with nourishing oxygen, which can reduce discomfort and enable them to move more freely.*

How will BEMER PEMF therapy affect my endurance?

With consistent daily application, BEMER PEMF therapy enhances blood flow to your muscles. When your muscles have greater access to oxygenated blood, your body will be better equipped to cope with intense training sessions, boosting your conditioning and endurance.

How does BEMER improve my rest & recovery?

During long periods of rest, your body diverts a lot of the blood that normally fuels your muscles to your gut, liver, and other vital organs. Increases in hormones and other chemicals that aid in recovery and immune function help your body repair, get rid of cellular waste, and renew itself for the next day. But these vital resources are transported to their destinations through your bloodstream. So, if you have poor circulation, your body can’t distribute these substances as effectively. The result is that sluggish, fatigued feeling that follows you throughout the day until you can get some quality rest. Without healthy blood flow, your rest can leave you feeling like you’re running on fumes and can affect your work, mood, physical performance, and more. By enhancing local circulation, BEMER gives your body the boost it needs to speed up your recovery process and optimize your performance on the court.

Which level should I select after an intensive training session or competition? Is there a difference in recovery after strength training?

Using levels 1, 2, or 3 with the B.PAD after intensive training (including strength training) is the best way to recover. Before heavy training sessions or competitions, you can dial in higher intensities to prime your muscles for optimal performance.

Is BEMER a legal means of performance enhancement or a form of doping?

Because BEMER only supports the body’s natural processes, without any added substances, it can’t be considered doping. You can see a boost in your performance, but only in combination with consistent and high-quality training.

When are the best times to use BEMER?

We recommend using BEMER for pre-workout warmups, post-training recovery sessions, and twice a day for general maintenance and overall performance. The great thing about BEMER is that you can work your sessions into your schedule however you like. If you want to kickstart your day with a session right after you get out of bed in the morning, you can use a medium-to-high setting to get the blood flowing. If you want to wind down and get some regenerative rest, you can dial in a low setting right before unwinding. And the same goes for your workouts. If you want a shot of energy before training, add a PEMF therapy session to your pre-workout routine. For optimal recovery, use BEMER after your training to cool down and revitalize your muscles with oxygen. The “best times” to use your BEMER device are when it works best for you, your schedule, and your body.

How does BEMER compare to icing?

Whereas icing decreases local circulation, BEMER does the exact opposite by increasing localized blood flow. When you ice an injured or swollen area, the cold causes your blood vessels to constrict and limits blood flow. This method is a great way to temporarily relieve inflammation, pain, and bleeding for the first few days following an acute injury. But limited blood flow means limited recovery. In the days after acute injuries, or for any overuse issues, BEMER PEMF therapy is a much more effective sports recovery tool. BEMER uses a targeted PEMF signal to boost electrical activity in healthy muscle cells, increasing local circulation and flooding your muscles with nourishing oxygen, enhancing everything from recovery to muscle conditioning to recovery. While icing works as an effective band-aid, BEMER is your recovery and performance solution.

How does BEMER compare to sports massage?

Sports massages are an excellent way to treat minor injuries and work through tight muscles. Using special techniques like deep tissue or compression massages, your therapist can target problem areas to induce deep muscle relaxation, improve local circulation, and increase lymph drainage. In these ways, sports massages have a lot in common with BEMER. However, your massage therapist can only apply so much external pressure. What separates BEMER from a sports massage is its ability to reach through the body and down to the cellular level to improve your body’s natural processes. By promoting optimal muscle cell function, daily BEMER PEMF therapy provides all the benefits of a sports massage, only much more effectively. Plus, you can experience the added benefit of improved performance, energy, vitality, and much more. While BEMER use doesn’t replace a sports massage, these two recovery methods can be combined for peak recovery potential.

How does BEMER compare to saunas?

Saunas are an excellent way to increase circulation and reduce lactic acid after a workout. But unfortunately, these benefits come at a price. Naturally, saunas get incredibly hot. When exposed to so much heat, the body has to create large amounts of sweat to regulate its internal temperature. For athletes, this can negatively impact sports performance, robbing their muscles of vital energy and resources. Also, the heat from saunas draws excess blood to the skin rather than to the muscles, where it’s needed most. BEMER doesn’t charge your muscles an energy fee for improved local blood flow and lactic acid removal, and you don’t have to sweat a drop. With BEMER, you can relax for a quick eight-minute PEMF session in the comfort of your own home with your thermostat at whatever temperature you like.

How does BEMER compare to compression boots?

Compression boots use dynamic air compression to increase blood flow, improve lymphatic function, and flush out lactic acid. The regulated air pulses mimic leg muscle contractions, facilitating lymph drainage and cellular metabolism. However, the scientific research behind this technology is less than clear. While some studies show a notable reduction in muscle pain and increased local circulation, another study by the International Journal of Sports Medicine reported no significant difference after bouts of strenuous exercise. Nonetheless, compression boots can still serve as a more passive alternative to a sports massage. When compared to BEMER’s scientifically proven technology and convenient travel-sized system, BEMER comes out on top. With BEMER, you get many of the benefits of dynamic air compression and more in a compact package, without any uncomfortable boots or sleeves to wear.

When do you first noticeably feel a difference in energy?

During a BEMER session, you may feel a low-frequency movement through your body. A sense of calm energy as if you just finished a yoga session. While each person responds differently, there is a compounding effect — The more consistently you use BEMER, the greater the results you experience, and the more attuned your body becomes from the therapeutic frequencies. Every day you use your BEMER, the increase in local blood flow will provide you with newfound energy, stress relief, and well-being.

Is it possible to overuse the B.Pad or B.Spot?

If you use BEMER more often than recommended, you may experience some mild symptoms like drowsiness. For optimal results, we encourage users to harness the power of their BEMER as directed — two eight-minute sessions per day, using the Basic Plan. Following the saying, “Start low and go slow” will ensure you don’t push your body more than it can effectively respond to BEMER PEMF therapy. When using the lower settings, you may notice yourself feeling drowsy, but this is normal. These settings are meant to ease tension in healthy muscles, so the relaxation you can feel may cause some drowsiness. With the BEMER, one of the safest technologies to improve your health and well-being is at your fingertips.

Are there any contraindications to/when using BEMER?

Yes. Although BEMER has far fewer contraindications than most medical devices, there are several cases where PEMF therapy should be avoided entirely. The following absolute contraindications must be observed:

  • Immunosuppressive therapy in consequence of transplantation
  • Immunosuppressive therapy in consequence of allogenic cellular transplantations or bone marrow stem cell transplantation
  • Other conditions often requiring immunosuppressive therapy, e.g. autoimmune diseases or dermatological diseases are not contraindications to the use of BEMER therapy. BEMER therapy application has to be cleared by the physician in charge.
  • Do not use the device if you have a diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
  • Active medical implants that lead to stimulation (e.g. pacemakers, defibrillators, brain stimulators, muscle stimulators) represent a relative contraindication. The adjuvant application of the BEMER therapy must be discussed with the patient’s attending physician.
  • All active medical implants that are intended to administer medication (medication pumps) are an absolute contraindication and prohibit the use of BEMER therapy.
What is the best position to be in while using BEMER?

To get the most out of your PEMF sessions, it’s best to be in a comfortable, relaxed position. If you have a favorite chair or spot on the couch that helps you decompress, that would be the perfect place to use your BEMER device. You can sit upright, recline, or lie down during your sessions, whichever feels most comfortable for you. Whatever position you choose, be sure to keep the area you’re targeting as close to the pad as possible.

Is there any harm if athletes only use the highest settings?

No. A finely tuned athlete is well equipped to handle BEMER’s highest settings. That said, to maintain peak performance the body needs to recover, rest, and relax. While the highest settings are optimal for more energy, heightened local blood flow in healthy muscles, and increased performance, the low settings are engineered to promote deeper relaxation, improved recovery, and more profound rest. Therefore, if athletes want to continue performing at peak physical condition, we recommend finding a balance between the lower and higher settings during your BEMER PEMF therapy sessions.

Are there any risks associated with using BEMER?

Aside from the contraindications listed above, there are few health risks associated with BEMER PEMF therapy. If you’re under the care of a doctor, we recommend discussing BEMER therapy with them before incorporating it into your daily life. As the targeted PEMF signal optimizes local blood flow in your healthy muscles, your cells become flooded with oxygen, making them more effective at filtering out carbon dioxide. This detoxifying process can, in rare cases, cause mild fatigue or lightheadedness in new users. Symptoms like this are easily avoided by starting with the lower settings and working your way up as your body adjusts to the PEMF signals over time.

As an athlete, why choose BEMER for your recovery needs?

Thanks to BEMER’s patented PEMF signal, improved local blood flow aids in your recovery process. By dilating your capillaries, you can deliver more oxygen to your muscles, increasing your muscles’ capacity to perform. Also, with the increased blood flow, you’re able to remove carbon dioxide from your tissue, allowing you to recover faster and more efficiently. When you can train more often and more intensely, you’ll find your muscle strength and endurance will increase.

What setting should you use before a workout?

To prepare your body for a workout, higher settings can increase local blood flow and warm up your muscles. A quick pre-workout PEMF session will give you a boost of energy and activate your muscles for maximum strength, endurance, and overall performance. A short, 8-minute session on BEMER is comparable to an active warmup. Using BEMER for a pre-workout warmup, you may find that you can work harder for longer, your threshold for fatigue increases, and your overall physical fitness improves. Think of BEMER PEMF therapy like a scoop of pre-workout for your muscles.

What makes BEMER better than other PEMF devices on the market?

At BEMER, we like to let our results speak for themselves. For the past twenty years, we’ve developed and perfected our own unique PEMF signal specifically designed to optimize your body’s natural functions. The technology and power behind this one-of-a-kind signal have drawn the attention of professional athletes and organizations around the globe. In February of 2020, the FDA recognized BEMER as a Class II medical device, making it the only cleared Class II PEMF device on the US market. Our team of professional ambassadors includes Olympic gold-winning swimmers, Winter X Games competitors, champion equestrians, and Academy Award-winning film directors, and it grows bigger every year. We have a partnership with the NFL Alumni Association and a joint collaboration with NASA to integrate BEMER technology into the undergarments of spacesuits. At BEMER, our mission is to continue to lead the PEMF movement into the future and bring the life-enhancing benefits of this groundbreaking technology to as many people as possible.

What attachments and components work best on what parts of the body?

The B.Spot and B.Pad applicators give you the flexibility to target anywhere on your body with ease. If you want to focus on your back or upper thighs, you can wrap the B.Pad around the area to apply BEMER’s therapeutic PEMF signal. If you struggle with stiff or sore elbows or a calf issue, place the B.Spot applicator directly on the “spot” to optimize local blood flow. For areas like the lower legs, it may be difficult to hold the B.Spot in place for a full eight minutes. For example, let’s say you want to target your Achilles tendon region. To help you relax during your session, you can wrap the B.Pad around your ankle to avoid sitting awkwardly to reach the area.

When are the most optimum times to incorporate BEMER into your schedule?

We recommend using BEMER for pre-workout warmups, post-training recovery sessions, and twice a day for general maintenance and overall performance. The great thing about BEMER is that you can work your sessions into your schedule however you like. If you want to kickstart your day with a session right after you get out of bed in the morning, you can use a medium to high setting to get the blood flowing. If you want to wind down, you can dial in a low setting right before lying down. And the same goes for your workouts. If you want a boost of energy before training, add a PEMF therapy session to your pre-workout routine. For optimal recovery, use BEMER after your training to cool down and revitalize your muscles with oxygen. The “most optimum times” to use your BEMER device are when it works best for you, your schedule, and your body.
